Lucy's Introduction video - a new look

Hey!

I've posted a short introductory mini-loop with Lucy's new model.

It can be found in the free gallery folder here: https://mega.nz/folder/W1YXXCAZ#dNpCuQnFovmrJb16kTkGNw

Or streamed on twitter here:

For those not familiar with her, Lucy is 20 (19 in chapter 1), Half-Thai, half-made up European future country in Diminishment!

There will be another mini-loop with her, before I start making her friend, Jane, who was chosen in poll to be a white goth girl.

As stated in the previous announcement, the mini-loop is going to feature Lucy getting off on a broom/table corner, pipe, or something similar, with a tiny stuck under her. It'll be 3rd person. This should be coming out around the end of the month/or hopefully within a couple weeks at least.

Her current voice, and the one for the upcoming mini-loop is Anya's voice, slightly pitch tuned. She'll have her own voice, acted out by ZD for the Diminishment part. I'm still a bit undecided whether I'll include voiced dialogue in the game. It could be doable if it's just the dialogue, and the narration remains silent.

That's all for now!

  1. I think it would be best if you didn't include dialogue in Diminishment, since I feel it takes you out of the scene when they talk, and it's kind of a turn off. But hey this is just the opinion of a random player that it's too poor to support your amazing art.
Keep up the good work and know that what you do is truly unique, and will always be appreciated.

    (sorry for the bad english)
    Best regards.

    1. If I do include it, it'll be toggleable, at least for the most part. There might be some lines in the video footage directly, but most of the voices would be tied to the text boxes.

  2. The new model looks incredible, though, if you plan on changing the models again in the future, maybe for the faces it would be better to go with just a little less mix of the cartoon and realistic look and a little more leaning into one or the other, because in my opinion at the moment it does look just a bit uncanny valley in contrast to the rest of the model and previous.

    1. I'll of course keep iterating on the models as long as I keep working on this stuff. What direction they go, I can't really say of course, it'll depend on my mood at the time. As for uncanny valley. It is such a subjective thing, that I can only try to avoid what triggers it for me personally. In many ways, these new designs are a result of that, as I could no longer stand the old look I had with the characters. But it's very possible I'll feel the same about these as well, after a while. So we'll see what happens in the future.
